What is Reach Out and Read?

Reach Out and Read is a national program that partners with healthcare providers to promote early literacy and school readiness in young children. At each well-child visit, your child will receive a developmentally-appropriate book and your healthcare provider will provide guidance on how to read with your child and make reading a fun and interactive experience.

Why is reading with your child important?

Reading with your child from a young age can have a significant impact on their cognitive and social- emotional development. It can also help to build vocabulary, improve communication skills, and foster a love of learning that will benefit your child for years to come.

How can I sign up my child?

If your child is between the ages of 6 months and 5 years old, simply schedule a well-child visit at any Family Medical Centers location. Your child will receive a free book and your healthcare provider will provide guidance on how to read with your child. Best of all, there is no cost to families.

At Family Medical Centers. we are committed to providing high-quality care and promoting healthy development in young children. We hope that you will take advantage of this important program and join us in promoting early literacy and school readiness in our community.
